Service Devolution & Asset Transfer

At the Full Council meeting held on 11th June, the Parish Council “resolved in principle to endeavour to conclude negotiations with Wiltshire Council on the devolution of services and transfer of assets, subject to legal advice and a public meeting.”

What this means is that the Parish Council will take on some devolved services from Wiltshire Council later in the year, and will include some areas of grass cutting, litter picking, graffiti clearance etc.  In addition, assets that are owned by Wiltshire Council, such as the play areas on the Old Hospital site and the North Street and Hallgate House car parks will be transferred in their entirety to the Parish Council.

The next stage of this process will be approval by Wiltshire Council Cabinet on 2nd July.
